Power range 

Many of today’s three-phase string inverters for commercial rooftop and carport systems have rated outputs in the range of 30-100 kW-AC. For DC arrays that are only 10-25 kW, this can lead to wasted inverter power. With larger inverters on crowded, complicated rooftops, PV systems could end up with fragmented arrays. Not a problem here!  Because the Symo Advanced inverters range from 10 to 24 kW and come in 208V to 480V AC service types, installers have the flexibility to accommodate smaller three-phase rooftop projects and challenging design spaces for larger systems.

SUNSPEC PVRSE CERTIFIED

With an integrated power line communication (PLC) transmitter, based on the SunSpec Rapid Shutdown communication standard, all Symo Advanced inverters have attained UL-PVRSE listing as a transmitter. The inverter is also listed as a UL-PVRSS with APsystem’s RSD device (Rapid Shutdown). Note that the Symo Advanced is the first inverter on the market to receive the official SunSpec Rapid Shutdown certification.

NEC listing with APSmart

APsmart announces Fronius as the newest addition to its list of inverter manufacturers under its Photovoltaic Rapid Shutdown Systems (PVRSS) certification to the UL 1741 standard. The CSA has certified all six Fronius Symo Advanced  models to be used with APsmart’s module level shutdown solutions.

For systems where NEC 2014 cannot be achieved, the Symo Advanced and APSmart partnership is the best solution.

AC service options

The 10 and 12kW models are available in 208 and 240 volt Delta, High-Leg, and WYE transformer outputs. The 15-24 kW models work with 480 volt WYE services.

Dynamic Peak Manager

The Fronius Dynamic Peak Manager (DPM) is an enhanced MPP tracking algorithm that scans the entire I-V curve when searching for the optimal operating point. By checking the entire characteristic curve on a regular basis, the DPM finds the global Maximum Power Point (GMPP) for partially shaded arrays. The Symo Advanced typically out performs DC optimizers and micro inverters. Thanks to the Dynamic Peak Manager feature this is even the case in most shaded conditions (see study linked below).

Field serviceability

At some point all electronic devices, especially those in harsh environments, will fail. So it’s important to be notified of the problem and likely solution(s) as well as having an easy to repair inverter. Fronius’ inverters and service tools are designed with this in mind.

The Solar.web monitoring platform (browser or app accessible) can provide system status notifications (text or email) and the Solar.SOS app provides instructions on how to resolve particular system problems. Finally, often only the failed portion of the inverter needs to be replaced rather than the whole unit. This can be done in the field to minimize system downtime and O&M labor.
